Maryland-Specific Accessibility and Inclusion Resources

The Maryland Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention partnered on a 5-year initiative to improve the health and quality of life among people with disabilities in Maryland through adaptation and implementation of evidence-based strategies. The Accessibility and Accommodation Toolkit is one of the results of that project.

The Maryland Department of Disabilities (MDOD) assists with coordinating and improving the delivery of services to individuals with disabilities in the state of Maryland. Services andresources are specific to education, employment, housing, transportation, etc.

The communications workgroup of the Disability Advisory Committee works to develop and disseminate the Disability Dispatch, a newsletter with resources pertaining to disability health and wellness. To be added to the distribution list, complete the registration form .

Massachusetts Disability and Health Program (HDP) was the mentor state for Maryland’s Disability and Health Inclusion Program. They work to ensure that the needs of people with disabilities are included in MA public health programs, services, data collection, policy and systems.

Through funding from the CARES Act, this Resource Guide was created to assist both organizations serving people with disabilities and people with disabilities to access internet/data, equipment, and training/tech support. This guide was created by Maryland's Centers for Independent Living, including The Freedom Center, Independence Now, and Accessible Resources for Independence.
